Everything installed but it doesn't seem right

that amp will push those speakers fine
if your looking for bass ,are you wanting your door to shake a little or are you just expecting more bass "sound" or feel?

either way i think you want a sub to fill in the bass your missing

I'm looking to hear the bass, but on certain songs I can't even listen to the song b/c the bass is too much and the speakers are crackling. the volume is at 10 and its still cracking so I just go to the next song. The thing is....all 4 speakers are doing the exact same thing.

About the sub, yea I ordered a StealthBox from JL Audio with a 10W6V2, pretty much went with this b/c it saves alot more space.

sounds like maybe your over powering the speakers or dont have them high passed. look on the amp if it says low pass, high pass or full range indicated by HP, LP, FULL. put it to high pass and set it as low as possible without the distortion or bottoming out of the speaker as you seem to describe. and see if that helps.

Allright, thanks for the advice. I'll try tht sometime in the morning.

On my system I don't get any crackling but I do notice a lot of difference in the various CD's I listen to. Figure out how to adjust your bass and treble settings to help out the cause of good sound and see if the crackle disappears or at least the sound is coming across well.

Using my system I twiddle a bit on the parametric equalizer and if I need more punch or less sizzle on the tweets than the equalizer is set up to deal with (which is my usual problem area), then I punch the big knob on my Alpine HU until bass or treble appears, then make an adjustment. The funny thing to me is that a cheap factory system is pretty forgiving while a quality system meant to really bring out the sound also will bring out everything else...LOL! Thus the need to twiddle with the sound.

May your bass kick ***!

dont expect bass out of your comps. mid bass yes, if installed right. high pass at around 60 - 80hz depending on how you low passed your sub stage. you want the 2 to blend, which is the ultimate goal here right? letting you front stage play as low as possible is crucial for a better bass up front sound and overall sound staging.

Sounds like since you told him that there isnt enough bass that he just jacked up the bass on the EQ.

go through the settings and flatten out the EQ and wait for your sub....

I'm not sure if you mentioned it or not, but where's your amp mounted? It's very possible that it's the one channel of the RCA's coming lose from the board of the amp. Mine were doing that, every time I would hit a bump in the road it would make that crackling sound and it was annoying as hell. It stopped once I relocated it from the floor of the trunk.

if its on high pass ,, doesnt that take all the bass out of the woofer..? producing only treble..

no

Read up about high pass and low pass cross overs.

High pass doenst mean only the higher notes pass though.

You can usually choose where you want it to cut of at

I usually set mine at about 100hz

You're getting too much bass. Check the head unit and see what the bass setting's on and take of pic of the settings on your amp and post it on here.
right, it sounds like you have a setting set for to much bass.

Possibly your amps gain is to high.

This is some thing you can adjust your self.

Locate the amp and where a knob is labled "gain" see if the gain is turned up further to the right or left

right/up meaning closer to 5 oclock

left/down 7 o clock

as stated before see if you amp is set to full pass also

you might/should be able to leave the amp on full range and adjust your gain and head unit settings accordingly

its just i feel like im missin something,, ive got the subs in the back and they hit hard.. then i got the words and treble up front but it feels like im missin something in between,, bass wise..

id take about 30 min and mess with the settings on the amp and the head unit

this is how ive always tuned my set ups

I dont have a RTA or a scope or anything like that

im just a 20 something who likes music to sound good
