I just helped my brother and a friend do it to an old beater dodge which had broke the lifter bridge mount off the alum head. Rather than pulling the head, having it repaired, machined, buying a new bridge, gaskets, etc etc.
We just decided to pull out the broke giblets, rockers, pushrods, etc, and drill a couple 1/2" holes in that piston so it wouldnt compress anymore. Was kinda tough drilling holes in it through the plug hole but we got it done. After we finished the compression tester read a whopping 2 cranking PSI, but ofcourse wouldnt hold any. We plugged the spark plug hole with a 1/8" npt plug and removed the wire //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Heres a couple pics from the job. Got it all put back together, runs great but bucks a little right off idle i assume from the missing piston. Only problem now is the rear valve cover gasket leaks a bit, didnt replace it. Kind of an experiment but if the engine holds together we may change it and maybe change the oil to get the shavings out too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
Ofcourse, id never do this to an old american car. But **** mopar v6s
