EQ or Headunit for my 2013 Nexus 7

I currently own both of these:

Alpine IDA-X001 Digital media receiver at Crutchfield.com

Clarion Canada | EQS746

Connected to a Hifimediy U2 DAC & Kicker 4 channel amp. Will be playing Lossless files, so I don't want to stream via Bluetooth.

I'm debating which one of these I should keep/use with my nexus?

-Should i hook it up to the auxiliary of my alpine HU?

-What if I bought a newer head unit that had time correction (80PRS seems popular) etc, would I be able to use the time correction with my Nexus when its connected via rear RCA AUX in\?

Is there anyway to use a newer bluetooth enabled HU to act only as a media remote for pause/play etc & not stream music?

you'll want a digital signal for the best sound quality. Auxiliary will be an analog connection. You will also have too much processing going into the signal line and that will be poor for sound quality. I'd get rid of most of that(in line DAC, Head unit, EQ) and get a digital sound processor instead. A budget one with 32 bit DAC processor costs 200 dollars and has time alignment, bandpass active crossovers with slopes and everything you need. All you need is an RCA to auxilliary cord and the signal will be processed from analog to digital. You will only have minimal problems with less things in the signal line and overall much better sound quality out of your nexus 7. Look into a ppi dsp 88r or soundstream harmony.

Ok thanks.

Suggestions on DSP? I've seen MiniDSP but havent read up on them yet.

But what i really want is something I just found:

Firmware Updates | JVC

"Android Open Accessory 2.0 (AOA 2.0) technology". In this youtube video is does everything. Streams over USB & allows control of my tablet from the HU. Does anybody have one of these new HU's?

Will it really stream all audio like a USB DAC? So I'll have music playing & waze giving directions all through the HU?

main flaw with that

All the audio will be routed to USB Audio when an accessory is connected to the Android device.

Only 44.1kHz 16 bit PCM data format is supported by Android devices.

That 16 bit audio is a big limitation vs 32 bit 192khz and actual advanced sound tuning capabilties.

Basically what i'm trying to get through to you is. what you are trying to do will always feel mediocre and severely lacking in all the details in the music that you are missing out. While a proper DSP will get you sounding out of this world.

ok, so how would that benefit me if all my files are 16bit FLAC & ALAC files?

Meaning a 3.5mm to RCA? That would connect to my Nexus headphone output & be the ****** analog connection.

Looking at the Soundstream Harmony & DSp 88r seems like I need optical output from my nexus somehow?
