Epicenter good for what?

I am looking at either getting a bass cube or epicenter to help boost the notes in some of my classic rock songs. Also I was looking to see if it will give a good boost to my low end on rap songs if used properly. My enclosure is tuned to 32hz just to give you an idea.

so good for classic rock and other bass needed songs but say some decaf edited songs there would be no boost at all to them on an epicenter or bass cube

Technically, you can boost any song you like, but you risk clipping the signal boosting songs with strong bass lines already.

Ofcourse this depends on your gain settings blah, blah but just consider that before you go bass boosting a bass remix.

Thanks I know that it probably would throw some clipping into the equation but i was seeing if it would also help on the meter for a quick 15-30second run on a song. Also either way I would love to boost my classic rock and other such songs bass since it is almost not even there.

AudioControl's Epicenter & the PG Bass Cube work in different ways.

The Epicenter is a bass restoration processor. It basically takes midbass and recreates it 1 octave lower. You will not get louder or have 'more bass' with already bass heavy songs with the Epicenter. The coolest thing with this piece is you don't have to use it in your car. If you don't mind re-recording your music, you can effectively use the Epicenter to 'remaster' old music by creating a loop with your PC with the Epicenter in the middle. This actually works remarkably well and I wouldn't be surprised if there's software out there that will do the same thing.

The PG Bass Cube is basically a low freq line driver; aka Bass Boost. This processor will give you more bass but it's also been known to be a woofer cooker. You'll have more bass with old music as you'll effectively be turning up the gains by increasing the voltage on low level signal into the amp. You'll also have a lot more bass with already bass heavy music and this is where the 'woofer cooker' rep comes from. Very easy to over do it.

Between the two, I prefer the AudioControl piece. It isn't pretty, but it does the job and I've never heard of an AudioControl piece breaking. If you have turn-on pop issues, use a relay for 12v switched.

very well explained

Well I make remix myself and have abelton live. On it I can restore the bass to songs that are missing it but it takes a while to do. I was just looking mainly for something to boos the bass in songs missing it. But I also wanted to have the ability to boost it for a short amount of time on already bass heavy songs. So I guess bass cube it is unless these really ****.
