engine noise problem, what did i miss

ok i have tried unpluging the antenna (i think, i will try it again)

i took an rca to 3.5mm jack and pluged my ipod directly to the amp. and the noise was gone.

i ran a set of rca's unrouted from the HU to the amp and there was still the noise. louder even

i un soldered the wires and twisted them together, as if they were in a pigtail connector, and it was still there.

hu the problem maybe? i hope not.

if i can find some wire i will run a ground to the battery in the trunk/ where the amps are grounded

Your HU shouldn't work if there is no ground hooked unless the antenna is hooked up or the HUs metal casing is touching medal. It sounds to me like it is the HU with the problem. BTW Where do you have it grounded now?

right now it isnt hooked up, i am inside waiting for a spur of brilliance any my car is in pieces lin the garage

i had it grounded to the stock harness, and the battery under the hood, and the trunk battery (kinetik) it was getting ground thru the antenna.

Take a 14 or 12 guage wire to ground the head unit to the car chassis...Stay away for the ground in the harness. Make sure it is right to bare metal or chassis bolt.

i will try that, althought i did already try regrounding it to both batteries in the car.
