I bought a pair of Sundown SA-12 subwoofers, and want to go SQL ported design with them.
Sundown recommends 1.75cf per subwoofer, tuned to 30hz on their website. Yet the sheet that came in the subwoofer package said something like 2cf tuned to 35hz.
Those seem really different, to me, for the same subwoofer.
I'm trying to go SQL design here, as I listen to a lot of rock and roll and jazz, metal, etc. But I also love electronica and stuff like Deadmau5, etc etc. I've always gone sealed for SQ, but my last set up was a ported design that not only got louder than when the subs were sealed, it also sounded better! Best of both worlds, and I'm trying to do that again here...
I have 1500 watts rms going to the pair, if that helps.
Does 1.75cf tuned to 30hz sound good for nice sound quality? I think the F3 for that design is around 26hz.
