Enclosure size for kick panels

Oh , didn't know that . All the more reason for a road trip to the east coast //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

lol i still might go to a couple shows to help them out but other than that im not there. the thing that always strikes me funny is how people attack things that cost a little more....kinetik did very well at nopi/iasca finals and its finally being used in sq which it definately holds a reserve advantage and doesnt give you fits if it gets run down a lil low and have to recharge it. lol sorry about hijacking

i have the same car and considered doing that. but i dont think there is sufficient leg room down there to opt for kick pods. at least with me because im pretty short so i sit pretty close. i think i would block the sound on the left side at least.. and if i had a passenger on the right side i think the same would happen. keep this thread updated big dee as i would like to know how it goes. good luck in your conquest in solving my problem.DO IT.
Well I made the molds today. I took off the stock kick panel on the driver's side because like you said there is very little room. I am going to vent this kick into the A-pillar. There are a few spots where I think I can do it. I'm thinking about using some weather stripping around the vent to seal it, I'm not sure if this will work.

For the passengers side I'm just putting the new kick right over the stock one. There's not really any access to the A-pillar so I'm just making the biggest sealed enclosure I can without intruding too much on leg room. I'm going to make it extend to the top of the dash and across a little bit to get some more internal volume and still be out of the way. Hopefully it won't sound like shit.

BTW, resin gets really damn hot! I left a brush and a mix stick in a cup of resin/hardener mixture and they started smoking form the heat. It was pretty cool actually.

I'll update tommorow on my progress.

I can't get much done today because I am installing a 4 channel amp, rear speakers, distro block, bigger power wire, etc.

pictures of progress please!!!! i could sure use it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
Heh.

All I have right now are some too thin molds. I've been working on other things, but I'm gonna finish them up in a few days.

I'll post the pic of the molds later today.

How big do the vents have to be, I'm about to build some fiberglass kicks for a '94 Vette and might have to drill into the door sills and was wondering how big of a hole is needed?

I'm gonna make mine about 2"x2" which I think will be enough, but I'm not sure what the smallest acceptable size would be.

I ran out of mat today, I'll get more tommorow. So far I have 5 layers on one kick and 2 on the other. Im pretty sure 5 layers will be enough. It's still just the molds so far though.

I'll post pics when I can find a place to host them.

This is the driver's side kick. It's not cut yet. You can see how flimsy it is with only 2 layers. Yes I know there's a little hole in it, I'll get that patched. This was my first attempt ever at glassing.

This is the passengers side. It has 5 layers, more in some parts. You can see how big it's going to be at the top. I plan on making the top part big enough to give it some good internal volume, and it will still be somewhat unobtrusive.

Why don't I get any little shards of glass like I see with other glass projects?

Now that I think about, I should have taken off the passenger side stock kick. Oh well, I'm not doing it over again. It will just go over top of it.
