Enclosure Opinions

Would like your opinions on how I could best incorporate my current (2) JL-6w3v3's into a 'ported' fiberglass enclosure (on one side) and also a 'sealed' enclosure with either a 10w6 or 12w6 on the other side. First off, SQ wise how would this sound? I do like the "punch" that the 6's have so I would like to incorporate them with the 'lower range' that a 10 or 12w6 would bring. I know that by placing them on separate sides of the cargo area I would need to watch for "cancellation" but, if they were aimed properly they would sound good together...amirite?

Couple pics of enclosure designs that I had in mind...

Something like this on the left side of my cargo area for the 6w3v3's

With something like this on the opposite side...

Don't do that.

No offense but if your asking this question your just going to end up getting into way more hassle then reward.

get good midbass speakers. Deaden your doors correctly. You will want mids that can drop into the 40-50hz range, then use the subs to cover the rest. I am assuming you want to fiberglass into the side so you can save space other wise I would recommend a horn loaded ported enclosure.

just so you know... "ported" and "fiberglassed enclosure" dont normally go well together... they are a PAIN to tune properly.
Hmm, didn't know that. The 6's are in a ported box at the moment and sound really awesome(for what they are) so, that's why I was thinking of keeping them in a ported enclosure. Would I loose anything by putting them in a sealed one? would I need more power then?

That's because it's not true. All it takes is a different method for figuring out internal volume. You most certainly can port a fiber glassed enclosure. I would use an aero port to simplify your install.

Yeah, I was just trying to think of a way to incorporate them somehow..

And yes, I am looking to "save space" I want the best possible SQ without losing my cargo area. I know that JL has the stealthbox

But, I would like to do something maybe a step up from that custom wise..

Most of your punch and kick is from your midbass, if you have never heard a properly installed midbass speaker you will be amazed on how much bass and impact they have. There are plenty of budget choices out there. If you have aftermarket mids and highs already you may be fine with them just correcting the install.

even your second picture shows a ported fiberglass enclosure
Yes, That's why I picked that one out...And, I would be having these built for me(at one of the local dealers) No way in hell I would try that myself.

You were saying to get "mids that can drop into the 40-50hz range" could I use them(the 6w3's) up front in a 'kick' somehow?
