Enclosure for JL 12W6V2

Hi guys,

I'm gonna go pick up a used JL 12W6V2 tomorrow. Would this enclosure be okay for the unit? https://www.frys.com/product/6192219

Also - I'm borrowing my friend's 1200watt amp to test the unit (I'm currently running a powered sub off 8 gauge wire). Will this be okay as long as I don't bump up the volume? Any things I should look out for when I look at the unit? Thanks in advance!

You can use a multimeter to check the coils instead of hooking it up to an amp, that box will be fine.

i can design you a ported for the jl

they do really well ported, very clean and tight woofers. still get loud too, just don't overpower it too much

that sealed box is sad for a jl woofer that costs so much lol

that sealed enclosure will not work well with the jl 12w6. it is only .75 cubic feet, so after subwoofer displacement you are looking at around .65 cubic feet. jl recommends 1.25 cubic feet for a sealed enclosure.

if you just want a cheap enclosure for now get one of these:
