Hey guys,

First off a lil about myself since I'm new here...I'm Ryan pleased to meet all of you Guru's around here. I've always been TRUE BLUE Rockford Fosgate since my first stereo addition purchase when I was 16. I am in the middle of a build on my 2006 TrailBlazer SS. I am going to just completely use the whole back end of the vehicle from the 2nd row of seats back. I have 2/3 thoughts in my head on an enclosure

1. Invert Mount the T2's on top of the box and put a port against the lift-gate (LH & RH sides)

2. Down-fire the subs inside of the box, and put a port against the lift-gate (top or bottom)

3. Same as option 1 or 2, just sealed an no port. As the new T2's on Rockford's sight really show them to be a middle of the road sub for sealed or ported, and I would like more sound quality over all out bass.

My big question is, I would like to use option 2, and have the "face" of the box you see have a plexi window in it. However I am uncertain if I need to have independent chambers or if they can share an open cavity & port. I know I have seen someone's build on SMD Forum in the back of a Tahoe I believe that use 3 in an open chamber setup with a long port across the bottom. However I have hunted for the last week with no luck in finding the thread. I have downloaded Google Sketch Up and been playing around with it here, & there...However still high on the noob factor with it! LOL Which irritates the crap out of me, because I consider myself a technologically oriented person.

I have worked with FG before, I have plenty of 1", 3/4", 1/2", & 1/4" MDF to use.

The enclosure I was looked at doing was basically around 14" H x 48" W x 17" D with a Kinetik Power Cell on each side for the system (complete build not just the subs). With an Amp Rack facing forward to see when the 2nd Row seats are flipped forward. Please ANY of you guys feel free to help me out with some constructive criticism or insight on this.

THANKS!!!!!!

Ryan

Having the subs share the air space and the port should be fine. Just make sure that if you have three fifteens and each sub wants 3 cubes, make sure the box is at least 9 cubes.

also, with big boxes and big subs, be sure to use bracing to keep to box from flexing.

Just trying to debate if I really need a ported box, or not!? If not then the build becomes simple to me, but if it's ported I'd like a design like Ryan offers with kerfs and a cut sheet. The idea I have is:

Invert Mount the subs on the top of the box, put the port across the bottom "face" against the lift-gate, but kerf the edge of the port so, but I'd like to do a plexi glass inlay on the face of the box....idk if it can be done due to a size constraint I have in my head. Maybe a sealed enclosure is the way to go, I'm just caught off guard as the new T2's show middle of the road on enclosure preference really as compared to the prior model of T2 which was vented only...

I thought about running two 1 inch dowels, top to bottom and side to port side. I am going to run 2 baffles, so will be 1 1/4" thick front.

Could not tell you, but you may want to start by going to crutchfield and get a consensus on the 7 or so replacements they recommend. That average...

You could try to make the port longer, but there might be other reasons with the box won't extend lower, or even the sub. You'd have to reverse...
