Enclosure design for 16 8's

Looking at a clamshell design.

Considering doing it for my own.

However. The mouth, I can only get about 8x33.5....=268"s Surface area.

The speakers have a surface area of 804"s......16 8"s.

Any idea on how well it will work?

What kind of 8's are they? I say bandpass if you're going to wall it.

Oh by the way, this is a trunk car, I will be attempting an IB, with the clamshell front.

going with clamshell because of space, I just don't have it.

What are the rules and things to look out for in a clamshell? Do you need the opening/mouth to be as much surface area as the cones or what?

that's what I'm not sure about.

I was told it'd at like a bandpass, and I had enough surface area that each 8" would have something like a 4x4" port.

Someone that knows something about this please chime in! I am curious to know some things about clam-shells since it is more than likely going to be my next setup as well.

BTW how much power are you going to be running to the 8's?

I will be running 1 or two sundown 3000D's

soo... anywhere from...

I can wire them to 1 ohm, or .25 ohms. or 4 ohms

8000 watts/ 500 each @ 1 ohm strapped

3200 watts/ 200 each @ 4 ohm strapped

kill 1 amp @ .25 ohms and get maybe 5000? with 312.5 per speaker.

Run 1 amp @ 1 ohm, and get 3000 / 187.5 to each speaker.

Rated 200, has been run 400, and burped at possibly 800.
