Hello everyone. Have a bit of a technical question here..
2007 WK SRT
I have had a working upgraded head unit, steering control module for 8 months now.
HU is kenwood dnx771HD.
Sometimes the head unit will not come on after starting the car. Sometimes it will shut off while driving (not very often).
I have had the unit tested by kenwood, it is fine. he had it running for 5 days straight.
I took the truck to where I had the stereo installed..
Here are the voltage readings:
unit off
12V constant = 12.33 (perfect)
deck on
12V constant = 11.93
ACC (switching voltage/run voltage) = 11.10 -13.0
The ACC is where I am having the issue.
It does not happen often, but when it does I am also unable to turn the unit back on manually. Its like all switching voltage is gone. Wiring has been checked 2x, equipment has been checked. All was working for ~8 months with no issues.
I know I can run another ACC switched wire from the fuse panel but id prefer to not have to do that due to it being working for the past 8 months......
I am going to clean my fuse panel out soon.
Also: getting good voltages from battery and alternator, only tested with an OBD adapter so far. 12.3 at rest (ACC ON, nothing on inside the car), 14.5 started up with alternator running.
Anyone have any insight?
The tech also said he tested ahead of the PAC RP4 CH11 and was still getting these lower numbers.
What I dont get is, I cannot even turn the deck on even when the car is started. The KEnwood guy told me that if there is no ACC voltage, even if theres constant 12V, the deck will still not turn on. it usually takes about 5 minutes, and the deck will come on by itself.
Also: I dont think the PAC even has an ACC wire going through it. Im stumped here.
Everything was working fine for the past 7 months.
