Electrical problems?

When I started my car last night, my subs came on for about 5 seconds and then shut off. The volume wasn't loud at all and none of the lights on my amp or capacitor are on. Is it a fuse? The radio and speakers still work but my amp and subs wont come on. It has never done this. What's wrong?

sounds like the fuse under the hood. do you have voltmeter? if you go place the red on the 12+ on the amp and the black on the ground for the amp and if you read notting or close to it then open the hood and check the fuse

also if your cap has a remote wire input make sure that when the car and deck are on that you are getting atleast 12.6 volts so the red on the remote input of the cap and the black on the ground for the cap

Could be several things. Try what Alex stated and get back to us on what you found. Also, check your ground for your amp, it could have come loose depending on where it was installed.

I took it to circuit city and it turns out that the guy that installed it didn't have enough wire to connect my fuse box to the battery, so he extended it with some basic speaker wire and electrical tape. The electrical tape started to melt away so i was starting to lose all my electronics inside of my car including my amp.

Wow... almost as good as the guy who tried to run his 1200d on 16 gauge speaker wire with no fuse....
