Life Is What You Make It
Ok yall I need some help. I was rather Ignorant and let a friend hook up a toggle switch to LEDS in the floor for me. I was hooking it up and got a phone call and he took over. This guy has done his own installs and I DID trust him. To make a long story short he shorted something out in the fuse panel. So my power locks, unlock and trunk release switch quit working. So I check internal fuses and then I check external (Under Hood) I find a Big Monster 60 AMP fuse under the hood blown. Ok no big deal went and replaced it. Now all lock, unlock work EXCEPT the driver side. When I push my lock/unlock button it does nothing, when you push the passenger lock/unlock all doors lock EXCEPT mine lol. I have looked and searched to find my issue. The only thing I have not done yet was pull door panel off and put a DMM on the wires inside. I normally do not have a issue finding problem but because I was not beside him when it happened and did not see I have no clue. I replaced all the door lock/unlock related relays in the fuse panel. I have looked over the fuses which I may have overlooked but I doubt that. It is really starting to bug me and I need to get this fixed. Any help or suggestions would be helpful.

This DID NOT affect the LEDS in any way. They work perfectly. I ARE CONFUSED!

I know flame me for letting someone else touch my but I can re-assure you NEVER AGAIN WILL THAT HAPPEN!

I have a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am Se 2.4

Thanks again for any help!

that's happened to me and it would usually be the radio fuse, sometimes some other fuses, a real pain in the *** it was with the shorts you sumtimez get, and sometimes you have to take it to your car dealer and have them reprogram your key entry pad thing.

Well I bought a new pad because when I got the car it did not have one. I was going to take it to the dealer and have them program it until this *** did this. I checked all fuses. It has not messed with my radio or any other function in my car.

Well instead of pulling the 50 firggin fused I checked them with a test light and if I recieved no power I pulled them and looked. Thanks Yall!

Ok here is a dumb question due to your reply...Where do I need to check for a fried solder connection? This would be the first time I had to fix someone else's **** UP!!

Yeah I hope...Thanks man for your input and taking the time to try to help. I am wondering if when he shorted it maybe some or A wire going to the back of the fuse panel burnt up? I am have never pulled a fuse panel though. My switch makes the working sound like it locked everything which it does just not my door. MY LOCK AND MY TRUNK RELEASE IS NOT WORKING!

Yeah I did and I checked everything out and its all back together now...This happened about 2 weeks ago...I am picky about asking for help so I tryed to figure it out but as of right now I am stumped.

Take your car to your dealer and they will fix that for you and look over your car fuses hopefully for a no cost deal. that's what i had to do, since if ****ed everything up when i blew a fuse onetime. it fixed everything back to normal.

Ok I know my local dealer charges $75 labor fees. I will talk to them and see if they can look at it for me. Hopefully I can get a freebie...
