Considering the video was in a build house where they produce subwoffers, I don't think he can directly answer that question.

How hard is it to make subwoofers

Construction of them; not incredibly hard. Basically just putting together the parts.

Design wise; Extremely difficult to make something that actually performs worth a damn. Majority of the people on this forum couldn't design a decent sounding subwoofer on their own. There are a few that probably could, though.

and what is the advantage of making your own opposed to buying them?

None.

Unless you work for the buildhouse.

After watching the video i was just wondering.

That video, as Trigger pointed out, was from the buildhouse. Speakerman didn't design and build his own speaker at home or anything.

You will have to forgive me. I was in the middle of studying for a physics exam tomorrow...I normally have very few errors in writing. But...as you can see...my brain was on overload and that video was my break lol.
