Heres what im setting up...

ED k 12" x2

jbl 1200.1

I know these subs cant handle all that power most likely. On the jbl amp what should I set the gains to, and what are they called on the amp? Theres "input level", "lpf freq.", and "bass boost". Actually if you could tell me what a good place for all those are that would be awsome. If you need any more info about my setup just ask, thanks a lot.

ok, yes that amp will be plenty sufficient for those 2 subs. Make sure you get 2 dual2ohm subs so that u can wire them to a 2ohm total load. Each sub will get about 625 watts, which is plenty. The gains on that amp are the "level". All the way counter-clockwise is the lowest setting...just so ya know b/c it's kinda confusing. peace

alright, im guessing that "input level" and "level" are the same. in that case, on website when it tells you to set your gains by putting the radio to a good volume, and listening for distortion, and on............ Will I still do that or just keep it all the way counterclockwise?

folks.. unless you fall into one of these 2 categories:

1. COMPETITOR

2. EXPERIENCED ENOUGH

then you have zero reason to ever put anything over 600 watts RMS into ANY K series driver..

with an experienced, and careful person on the controls.. the K's will take large amounts of power. If you're Bob nobody and you still haven't figured out how to turn the radio down.. save your time.. and Ben's (because he warrants drivers regardless of how dumb you were with it) and just run 4-600 watts rms a driver..

If you have more specific questions regarding the K series line.. please email me at: LoydL@edesignaudio.com

and please excuse my mean sounding undertone.. I'm just tired of seeing people speading information around that anyone can put 800-1000 watts on a $120-$145 entry level driver.... 600 watts is truly all you'll need.. they do excellent with the power

yeah, they are the same. And yes, you still put radio at about the loudest listening volume u'll prolly listen to and then turn the gains up intil u hear distortion...then back off a little. (with that amp, i'd keep them a little on the low side) The counter-clockwise thing was just a reference point...so u knew which way was down and which way was up. peace

ha, I read that today, I beleive I talked to lloyd, I also had a post about it, many, many people said it will be ok with gains down. Are you just pointing that out as a reference steve, or trying to tell me that is over powering? I may upgrade later so the 1200.1 would be good to have. Whats your opinion on the 1200.1 for the k's?

i say get the dual 4 models and wire them to 4 ohms, if u think u need more power, then give them more by wiring it to 1 ohm... the dual 2's dont give u much of an option being it can only be wired to 2 ohms or .5 ohms unless u give each vc its own amp....

Just a reference.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Watch your gains, and know when to turn it down(dont play volume master) and you should be fine. It's a good way to go, if you want to upgrade later.

yup, i had a discussion with lloyd about the gains, i read up on how to set them, will I set them any differently than what a website explains ? Because if I "have to keep my gains down" then how do i set the gain? (if you dont feel like explaining do you have a good website?)
