i was thinking maybe tunning the 8's higher for midbass in some sonotubes, and putting the 12 in a sonotub and tunning it low? yay or nay?

In my opinion, you can get away with TONS less port area with this sub. That box could handle the xmax into the 30mm range, while this has a whopping 9mm xmax. Go with one 4" aero port, and you could get away with a much smaller box. If you do build a slot port, reaudio.com has a box program, and you probably don't need any wider than 1.5" for the slot port. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip man. I'm not too keen on building ported boxes yet. I need to buy myself a book or something. What would you recommend I tune the box to for a mix of HT and music but a little more music?
