yes

there is more to cone area then the actual cone. Even if it was only the actual metal cone that displaced air, the travel of the cone would make up for it. That isn't the case though, Don't listen to tc sounds gibberish about their surrounds increasing cone area that's ********. On a half roll right around 1/2 the surround is included in the ''cone area''

now just to touch on the flat cone vs traditional; just because a cone is flat or has less actual surface area, does not mean it displaces less air. The actual piston is a radiating layer of air that is flat anyway. there is usually a dead layer of air on each side of the cone.

Ummmm, yeah.... If you can see the surround moving, then it's moving air. Is it not?

Generally speaking, you may include half of the surround width as radiating surface. But even including half of that Eclipse surround ends up being a bit less Sd than some other drivers of the same diameter, which is where the other part you've mentioned comes into play. The driver has the stroke to make up for slightly less surface area.

In order to answer your question, I would need to know what model (e.g. SW4200, SW7524DVC). Also, are you looking to make a ported box or sealed?
