Eclipse CD5000, new units and ipods

I've been looking at picking up the CD5000 but wondered if Eclipse will be doing any further integration with the ipod. I'm getting further and further away from using cds and am looking at a new unit mostly due to the ipod functionality. My current eclipse is too old to work well with any of the after market solutions.

Anyway, does anyone have any info on whether eclipse will be integrating the ipod control more in line like alpine versus the separate box? Perhaps some info from CES?

I've been going back and forth with the CD5000 and the 9857 - I like the easy ipod hook up of the alpine but I'm partial to the eclipse unit.

the eclipse is at ikesound for 250 plus shipping which is what the alpine can be had for. The eclipse ipod is not that bad. I have seen it and it works ok. Not as fast as alpine but the eclipse deck is def better sounding and has better tuning capability. But if your main priority is to run ipod then get the alpine.

I'm definitely interested in good SQ and I don't want to sacrifice because of the ipod...I want both. That's why I'm wondering what eclipse might be up to. Hopefully CES will have some interesting insights although I'm tempted to just pull the trigger on the 5000.

yes the new eclipes have ipod intagration, i belave the kit is around $50, VS the $130 or so for the Alpine KCA 620 unit or what every it is

i think the choice is clear, eather u spend a arm and a leg to get 3 pairs of 2 volt preouts, or spend just as much, get a no frills all out SQ based HU with 3 pairs of 8 volt low impendance pre outs. time alignments 7 band EQ, cross overs. show me alpine that dosnt cost over 600 bills that has all that. also the CD5000 is on sale on sounddomain for $350, so with your $50 ipod unit. that one hell of a $400 deck that blow pretty much everything outta the water

BTW, ikesound has some pretty bad ratings at resellerratings.com - 3.21 out of 10. Ouch. I think I'd avoid that one. Cardomain had a great price but I missed it by a few days.

What was the great price that you missed out on? I just checked and it looks like to me that they are on sale for $349 shipped. You have to go to checkout to see the final price.

I am guessing that Ikesound does not include shipping, so the diff may only be $70 bucks or a little more -- even more of a reason to avoid Ike.

if i recall, you can change the colors on the higher end ones

Yeah, I'm considering the CD3000, because it interfaces with the steering wheel controls in my Scion, and it has the amber illumination, BUT... it does not have a detachable face, and that concerns me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

They had it at something like 269 with the free install kits if I remember right. Some new year's sale. I was still mulling the ipod interface stuff and took too much time.

I think the shipping from ike was around $25 so the difference isn't so big.

Anyway, I'm lusting after the 5000 now.

I have bought from ikesound and never had a problem. Just call and make sure that it is instock before ordering.

eclipes uses a differnt method of anti theft. if the HU is removed from the car, or even the battary disconected, the HU gets locked, and pre dedermined CD, memory stick or a code from eclipes will unlock the radio. also if your HU is profeshanly installed, they will give u a free replacemend HU if yours is jacked, i think for 1 years period
