Earthquake Amps

Sorry about posting a new thread while being a noob here but i didnt find the answers to my questions in a search of the site.

I have been in an out of car audio many times and recently purchased a wrangler and desperately need some sound. I purchased some cheaper cdt componants rate at 115 watts rms and a pair of rockford fosgate punch stage 2's dual 4 ohm subs.

I had planned on using a directed amplifier i had hanging around but upon testing it the subs channel was cutting in and out and so i am in the market for a cheap four channel amplifier that will push at least 200 preferably 250 to each of my subs at 2 ohms

A friend of mine has an earthquake five channel amp and he loves it, upon researching the company, it is actually on a lot of lists as being best bang for buck and a good buy etc.

Looking at the numbers for the 600w.4 xtreme model it would do what i want it to do just fine.

I worry a little bit though as the power connection is only 8 gauge wire, and the amp would be putting out nearly a 1000 watts in my application, which seems like a lot for 8 gauge wire.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Im definitly a fan of earthquake stuff but id say try to find something in the PowerHouse line...seems to be the most reliable and best stuff ive seen from reviews. i have a Powerhouse 5000D and its going to be my amp for a long time

Thanks for the input people,

I was really hoping someone had some experience with the xtreme series.

The application for the amp will be running the front CDT components, and a pair of subs

I dont want to go with a mono block because i dont want to run two amps, as i said this is a wrangler and space is definately an issue.

I really dont have a budget, but the cheaper, the better.

Obviously sound quality is not paramount in this because it is a convertible and nothing sounds good in an open air environment. I just want something that will get me at least 225 watts to my subs preferably at 2 ohms but a 1 ohm stable would be fine as well.

I was just looking around the net and found earthquake and remmebered them from back in the day and was hoping somone had experience with the 600w.4

thanks
