my birthday is in like a month and id like to get a new sub setup don't like my bros too much so...

my brother now has a custom built box in place of his back middle seat and has three Memphis Audio M3 12's and they are loud but don't give that punch i love for double bass songs instead it kinda is just a constant bass which i don't really care for i listen to alot of On the Last Day and their double bass is sick i want it to beat my chest hard i can't get enough of it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

is it just the subs and box that make it that way or could it be changed if he had a nice headunit with LPF and slopes all that stuff?

AND

should i gear more towards looking for two subs that can handle 1000watts a piece like a Fi Q or something that only takes 250watts like a Rainbow Vanadium?

check out my sig to see what i am using if that means anything

You'll need 1-2 subs that will take some decent power and have good output. I ran 2 RL-P's and it sounded pretty good for metal/kick drums, but the HD's walk all over them.

I'll be in Naperville tomorrow afternoon until 4pm, so shoot me a PM before noon if you want to hear the HD's as I could meet you somewhere for a few, but have to be on the road by 4:30 to head home...

thanks for the offer but I am currently in indiana and won't be home till tonight

i was checkin out the great 12 challenge and the person said the Rainbow Vanadium was one of the punchiest subs he had ever heard but then when i looked at the spl the kicker cvx seems to be the best performer in the higher frequency range and was higher in everything than the vanadium so i don't know maybe its just the enclosure

Consider adding some dedicated midbass speakers up front and cross them over to your subs to get some added impact. Running my system without a sub I noticed how much of the kick drum was actually being reproduced in the midbass-midrange speakers.

I'd go 2 subs ported to get the sound you want for kicks. GF runs a ported 15" Q and listens to a lot of metal like Pantera and it has solid punch and keeps up no problem. 2 12" Q's would be nice tuned around 32Hz...

the only problem there is im pretty much stuck with sealed cause i don't have the room for a ported box ive got a pickup......unless i took out the back seat but i need it so i can't

do you think two q's or ssd's would get the job done in a sealed box?

Is there a budget? How much space do you have? You're going to have to buy sub(s) and amp(s) right? What about a second battery and 1/0 wiring?

ive already got 2 10" Kicker CVX's in a box that my brother used to have in his f150 under the seats.... ive got a Memphis MCD1000 (1100w) amp but the problem is my brother had no clue what he was doing when he bought them and bought dual 4 ohms so i cant wire em to 1 ohm

not too much of a budget i would like to keep the subs under $300 a piece

also i would like to keep the amp but if its not enough power to make subs pound pretty hard then i guess i could ditch that too
