Only problem with electricity is guess where a lot of electricity comes from? Plants that burn fossil fuels. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
Imagine a world full of electric cars. Our dependency on electricity (and the plants that produce it) would grow exponentially. It really wouldn't decrease our dependency on fossil fuels. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Though at least they are using other means of producing electricity these days. Wind, steam, water, etc. They are putting up a wind farm about 30 miles south of me. Supposed to be something like 14 miles long.
yeah, but if the end user isnt buying the fossils directly, he/she doesnt think about it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

How very true.

I don't want to SEE the cow get its throat sliced, but I loves me some steak. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

nuclear as in nuclear powered vehicles........i shouldn't have to go into the safety concerns as well as the national security implications of riding around in a vehicle that a scientist could turn into a weapon fairly easily

like what ? nuclear power has one of the best safety records out there.... definatly the least destruction on human life and the planet... people just hear the word and get scared
you are absolutly insane... you are forgetting that in order to use nuclear power for cars, we would have to put it in the hands of the public. you think they are going to handle it with the same amount of care as someone who went to school to study the material and how it should be handled?

Orly? I thought everyone had some uranium in their pantry.

as far as the ethanol debate the op seems pretty clueless... you get a fail...

If anyone is wondering there is about a 25-30 percent net return of energy using corn for ethanol... so it is viable... however we do not have the resorces to supply more then 15 or 20% of the energy we get from petro products... (actually a sizable amount of the ethanol produced in the world comes from ethylene which is a petro product).... ethanol from cellulose and waste is promising but at present difficult to produce....

Ethanol/gas blends are also not necassarilly better for emissions... gas blends with 10-15% ethanol tend to produce more aldehydes and ketones.... and E-85 produces more ozone.... all bad for us to breath....

You also get less power from a blend as there is less energy per liter of ethanol as there is gasoline...... HOWEVER, ethanol is very stable and can be used in high compression engines, along with high amounts of boost.... efficiency gains in this case can easilly make ethanol a more favorable fuel, and many high performance race engines run strait ethanol....
