E85 Corvette Z06 pace car.

truth......only problem is we would still have to dedicate millions of acres of farmland to produce it to replace the petro products currently in use. And on top of that, the equipment used to transport and harvest the crop still runs on petro products. Ethanol is corrosive to traditional fuel tanks and delivery lines so they would have to be completely retrofitted to expensive stainless steel.
plus due to degradation, you can't put ethanol in a pipeline...so it'll be transported in trucks
Well get ready for it, we are building ethanol plants like crazy around here and I will personally be delivering the corn. I dont agree with it at all.

The reason I say swithgrass is because it will grow on land that isnt tillable or cant be used to grow corn or other crops. It takes less fertilization because its a weed it thrives. Plus it grows more bushels per acre.

This whole ethanol thing is great business for me because the corn will arrive at the plant by train and the ethanol will leave by train but as a consumer it pisses me off.

Im not against ethanol completly because at least we are looking at alternative fuels, but with the technology we have and knowledget that there is a better way to produce it then corn, we are still jumping head first in the wrong way.

yeah, but it has one advantage that dinosaur doesnt have...
this is the major difference....besides the cleaner burning. i'm all for finder better fuels....just start with things like mini vans and toyota's leave the corvette alone for now

i've seen lots of different views, but think of the car audio magazines....what kind of reviews do they give products made by their major sponsers?
I don't see any BP or Gas City advertisements in Popular Hot Rodding. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Frankly, I don't mind the E85 trend. Our dependency on foreign fuels is killing us right now. I remember back when I first started driving 7-8 years ago when gas was 95 cents a gallon.

E85 prices around here are 50 cents less than regular 87, though I hear the tradeoff is a little worse gas mileage. So it pretty much balances out in cost.

i think they have already started with things like minivans and econo-boxes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

chevrolet is the #1 manufacturer of FFV's. thus why this was more of a show of "look what we can do" than "this is the future of things" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

of course not....but they aren't supportin g ethanol either...they make their money from petro.

i know man..... personally i think hydrogen was really the way to go...to get the end result of what we trying to do to eliminate petro products.....prepare to pay 5-6 bucks a gallon in the end. Transportation of ethanol is going to prove way to costly.

Gas City is the only station around me that has E85. They have to be supporting it a LITTLE bit seeing as they spent tons of money outfitting all their stations with E85.
i've never even heard of gas city myself but in the end, i hope we do find a easily renewable fuel source that burns clean and doesn't hurt our wonderful planet. I really would not mind paying elevated prices at the pump if the goods outweigh the bads.

Plus, i don't drive fast or need lots of horsepower anyways.

i really like electricity.

they had/have some electric cars that are wicked fast (as in faster than a Z06...), the only real drawbucks though are the limited range and the inability to rapidly recharge. and those are some pretty big drawbacks...

the answer to all our problems could be answered if we could make floating deloreans that ran on garbage...

Only problem with electricity is guess where a lot of electricity comes from? Plants that burn fossil fuels. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Imagine a world full of electric cars. Our dependency on electricity (and the plants that produce it) would grow exponentially. It really wouldn't decrease our dependency on fossil fuels. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Though at least they are using other means of producing electricity these days. Wind, steam, water, etc. They are putting up a wind farm about 30 miles south of me. Supposed to be something like 14 miles long.

tommyk you have a great point about E85 getting worse gas mileage so its almost a wash. I still don't know why we depend so much on foreign oil seeing how much oil we have in north america in tar sands.

I say go electric as those motors have wicked torque. Couple that with the ability to have instant acceleration and the ability to put batteries wherever you want in the chassis to lower CG I'd say you've got a real performer on your hands.
