Dynamat Install

Last night I put in another 36 sq ft of Dynamat X-treme without spilling a single drop of blood!

I never imagined what a pain in the *** it would be do do the entire roof of my Explorer. Taking out the side trim panels and removing the head-liner was a piece of cake, but applying the Dynamat was a bitch! When I did the floor, doors and quarter-panels, it was simple (gravity works), but when I was trying to get some good pressure on the roller (over my head), my arms got worn out quick. Fortunately it was cold as balls out so the shivering helped with the back and forth on the roller!

I cut down operations around midnight since it was getting late when I finished with the Dynamat and the trim panels wouldn't wouldn't fit. Of course it was probably because I was tired as fuck and shivering my *** off. So I just threw everything inside, locked it up, and headed to bed.

This morning, the power was out, so I had nothing to do and decided to get back into it. For some reason everything popped right back into place! I guess a clear head and a little warmth helped!

The roof hardly bumps now and the roof rack doesn't make as much noise, so I guess it really does work.

If this Second Skin group buy goes down, I'll be doing the interior doors and adding a couple layers to the floor...

Roller sucks, unless you have a big heavy duty one, and are doing only flat panels.... I just had a heat gun in my car...heated that ***** up and pressed it on...no problems so far...but it was a ***** to heat up every piece...and the roller just takes FOREVER to roll every piece, ever square inch.

I use one of the rubber Dynamat Pro Rollers, way to small for long flat panels, but, that's all I had. Anyway, it only took me about two hours to put in the Dynamat. The rest other 4 hours was spent removing and re-installing the panels and headliner...

I used a heat gun when I did my doors, but that still took a while. As cold as it was last night, it would have been better if I had used the heat gun on myself!!!
