The wisdom is it's a dumb idea and a waste of a already mediocre deadening product. It's not going to do anything. There is no need to add mass to the inside of a box that should already be well braced.
Deadeners main objective is to add mass to lower resonance in metal. Not fiber board

The short answer here is simple.... The difference (if any at all) that it'll make will not be an audible one. No matter how keen your hearing is. The money spent to do that could be spent elsewhere. This has been answered many times in many ways, however it's not the answer you want to hear, sorry.

If the objective is to eliminate reflective waves deadener will not so this. There are other products along with a diminishing wave box design that can do this for you. This type of enclosure design is a waste in anything other than a quiet room, this is because of all the different angle reflective surfaces outside the box that will cause way more issues than the enclosure itself. Reflections are also much more detrimental to higher frequencies that have a much shorter wave length.

I'm learning a lot from the jerk I'm being on this discussion board! No to the Dynamat as speaker cabinet damping and solder small gage wires and crimp well the large ones! I;m learning a lot here, with tons of fluff as overhead! But I always get attention!

I learned this approach to online forums way back in the daze of Usenet Newsgroups. I still drove a few of my last aircooled VWs and started to frequent rec.autos.makers.volkswagen.aircooled (RAMVA!) and I lurked a while as I always do before posting my first post. When I made my first post it was asking a question about people's experiences with dual carburetors on them. I posted a very polite inquiry and got almost NO response! I rethought my strategy and reposted but this time with the title of my post "Dual carburetors ****!" and then IN my post started off "Now that I've got your attention..." and them I said something about that I had posted before and reiterated my request for information. I got a LOT more responses, one even from a guy who said he'd seen my first post but didn't reply to it!!

So it's people's very tendency not to help at all online unless provoked that shaped my Internet personality! Like me so far?

In fact, do a test comparison between 2 boxes. One lined with dynamat and the other properly braced.

I can almost guarantee you nothing isn't gonna change. Improvement? Prob not. Sound diff? Maybe.

No, it's mainly that people don't/didn't answer because the answers are out there already. Newbs tend to ask the same questions (like this original one) that have been answered so many times that the "regulars" don't want to bother again. So they get ignored. If people took the time to search, you'd find it. This approach really didn't do much other than annoy people and will pretty much guaranty you not getting an answer on your next post. But you continue on through life the what you have been so far, i'm sure you're happy......
