Yea size matters and yea for performance... dustcaps push air back down to cool the coil... if U were to add larger dust caps u want to leave the stock small dust cap on and put the larger one over top the smaller one.

They add mass. Not really sure how much an 8" carbon fiber dust cap would make though. Personally, I wouldn't add useless mass to the moving parts of the sub.
