I plan on upgrading to a 200 amp alternator, and everyone keeps telling me to upgrade my battery as well but my budget doesn't really allow for one.

I can get a Duralast GOLD for just over $100 and was wondering if Duralast makes decent enough batteries.

The system will be about 1200-1500 rms.

I have a Duralast Gold in my car now, with factory 90amp alty. Im running 1200watts and just bearly getting some dimming on some notes.

Yea im running a duralast gold at the moment as well until I get my yellow top in the next week or two. I got nothing special hooked up at the moment, a simple crunch 2 channel bridged to a single 12. Its not a bad battery, just a flooded cell.

got a gold duralast upfront its the biggest they make around 1000amps i believe. Anyway i got mine for 85 if you are paying 100 or more spend another 30-50 bucks and grab a used stinger spv70 what i am running in the back very good battery

go to sears and get a DieHard gold for that price...much more realiable

I will never buy a Duralast again. What a pos. For anothe $30 you can get a Deka intimidator.

Duralast are decent batteries, but overpriced IMO. If you want to do some research, they are made by Johnson Controls.

I have a Duralast Gold with a factory I'd say 150 ampere Alternator, Big 3 in 4 AWG, running 1000 watts, and no dimming what so ever.

i got a duralast Gold upfront stock alt (105amp) 2 batteries in the back running a rf4000.1 to a 15 atomic apxx gains barely up 1/16th voltage steady at 14 volt ...but yeah add 30-50 bucks more and get ur self something better

iam running a 1000cca duralast red batt up front in my truck with the stock 70a alt and a smaller stinnger spv35(?) in the back. running a mtx81000d at 1ohm(not moded) i have no voltage issues and never dip below 13.3 at idle.

but imo its hit or miss with the autozone batts. the gold in my olds took a crap 3 weeks after i installed the fusion nvam2500. lucky for me it was still under warrenty.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if your alternator can supply more than enough amperage, isn't the battery less important? I was under the impression the battery backed up the alternator if it couldn't provide the current.

i work at autozone and will say the redtops are kind of junk, the duralast golds are decent and with the 3 year free replacement you can't really go wrong.

Show me where you can buy a new DG for $40 bucks. Cause it was obvious he was referring to the average price for a new one. (I managed Autozone for 4years so i've dealt with a few)
