duel amps...

alright, i know that i should have just got that hifonics amp for 1100w rms @ 2 ohms, but i was too impatient to wait for the mail so i ended up going to bb and getting 2 pioneer gm7200s. I've got one annoying question about using 2 amps... i had them all hooked up, one sub on each amp so they should of had around 500w rms @4 ohms, it sounded ok but then i decided to test out just having one of the amps hooked up to both subs for 360w rms @ 2 ohms and im betting there was close to twice the bass from the one amp hooked up at 360wrms at 2 ohms compared to both amps at 500wrms 4ohms. im thinking that it might be because of the way i daisy chained the power cord lol? I just have a 4 gauge power wire coming from the battery to one amp and then from there i have about a foot long 4 gauge going to the 2nd amp... is that why having both amps is weaker than just one, or wtf is wrong?

ok, if my above post is too long can someone just answer my question regarding why 2 of the same amp **** compared to just one?

true that, but is it possible to make the 2 amps output max power so that both of them are not outputting 1/2 of what just one alone could?

800W x 1 peak output @ 2 ohms

500W x 1 peak output @ 4 ohms

250W x 1 continuous output @ 4 ohms

360W x 1 continuous output @ 2 ohms

the most this amp will do (rated) is 360w rms x 1 @ 2 ohms. when u had them wired at 4 ohms, they were putting out 250w rms.

dont pay attention to the peak ratings, thats not what your going to be getting out of the amp. look at continuous or RMS power ratings. if you can wire both @ 2 ohms, that would get you the most power. if not, return, and get a hifnoics //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ok it's a little detailed so here goes. With both connected i have them grounded to the same spot, i have the main power wire and a different wire a foot in length connected into one of the amps power input and then the foot wire going from that first amp to the 2nd ones power input, i have one of the amps connected by the rcas coming from the HU and the other is connected via high inputs, and i have the remote wire from the HU into one of the amps remote input and then i chain off that into the 2nd amps remote input. So could the problem be that i don't have a distro block for the main power? I've already tested out the rca and high input and both give the same sound while just having one amp hooked up.

woah, i know that already, but the 360 is with both subs hooked up to it, there should be 500wrms@4 ohms with both amps though, 250 to each sub... and 500>360 right? Or would the ohm diff matter even with higher wattage?

naw i didn't pay 400, i payed $418 with tax... im trying to think of ways to make the output seem like it's really a 2 ohm load, what if i were to take a stock speaker from my car that has a 4 ohm load and rig it up with one of the subs to make it a 2 ohm load... is it possible to make it to where the sub is taking most of the watts and the stock speaker just does nothing, like if i were to use something like crossover chained somewhere?

alright it looks like its experimenting time... i'll try adding a 2nd battery in the trunk and using that as my distro block first off

huh? So you are saying any Hifonics amplifier is better than two IA 20.1s strapped?
lol
does this guy have 2 IA20.1's? no. he has 2 pioneer gm7200s. im sure the new line of hifonics is just as much money and puts out more power for the money (what it seems like he wants)

i dont know where you came outta no where with the IA statement tho...i was comaring to his amps (read his other thread as well, where he blew one up.)
