Dude..that dont smell good.

LOL, YES!
Kicker might not, but the sub is worthless without a cone. Would if be possible just to buy a new cone from kicker and do it yourself?

quoted from another forum...

Kicker doesn't re-cone. You can call Kicker to see if they'll upgrade your blown ones to the newer models at a discount, but you have to send in your old ones.

But if you factor in shipping the old subs back to Kicker, you might just want to skip it.

I couldn't find anything about them selling just parts.. but since Kicker's factory is about a half-hour away from me I'll just call them later :p

I don't know that I have ever seen a sub smoke like that. Smoke came pouring out the port. The box was 5.5@34hz. Made for 2 l7 12's but only had one in it at the time.
Anyone know if a L7 12 can be reconed?
so U had 1 L7 in a 5.5 with more than 1k watts. Probably over excursion than blew and just started burning.

I considered the large box doing/helping it a lot, but I still dont see why it blew THAT quick, the sub was moving a good amount tho. I get off at 5 today bro so call me after then. TN meet soon would kick ***. Where would be a good middle point for everybody? I live in Gallatin, Keebler lives in Mt. Juliet, and you other 2 live in Nashville.

If the box is too big for the subwoofer it can go over it's xmax easily, thats probably what happened //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

Yeah, it may have been overexcursion then. I know it wasn't over powering it. I had the danm thing half way up.

If you know someone at a retail store they can take care of it for you. Basically you send them the woofer and they will sell you a new one for a discounted price. It will depened on if the retail store will sell it to you at what they get it for or not though. Expect to pay anywhere from $150-$300

You've go to remember when you use a larger box (especially that large) you decrease power handling. That is more of a sq box than anything if it was sealed. Also, a gain control is not a volume knob.
logrhythmicaly thats not always true.....geeenerally though you can say that, rule of thumb almost, but it's not alway due to though lil TS parafockers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
