Dual Alts?

Has anyone had success running dual alts on a 2004 or newer Dodge Durango? I will soon be doubling my power and pushing 5000rms for daily driving. I already have one 220A Iraggi alt I was just going to get another one but i do not see an easy way of running dual alts. It is a 4.7L not the Hemi. If anyone has ran dual alts in a 2004 and up Durango tell me how you did it.

U can always get more reserve Bats. Cuse I'd doubt u'll be using more then 2,000-3,000 regularaly. If u have the reserve power (from battery's) Then u should be fine. Probably be alot easier too. 5,000 rms is looking at 347amps of current draw, and thats saying if ur at a constant 14.4. Even with 2 alts u would probably only see that kinda current provided from ur alts if ur rev'd at the right RPM every single second ur trying to see 5,000rms.

Photocrazy8's Install is a great idea.

He's runnin stock alt (no more then 100amps?) But he has the reserve to keep feeding the amp a constant 14v+.

Wow this thread about bashes everything I know if phypho is correct.......I thought more batteries just put more of a strain on the stock alty? And is there a special reserve or is it just batteries?

Well dual alts would be ideal. I havent seen any on your application though. Good luck... Maybe contact some of the people who make the brackets for the ford and chevy trucks. They might be able to fab you something up. or you could always try yourself... If you have some welding skills and the tools it shouldnt be too hard...

Generally it's a good idea to get both the alt upgrade and a battery that can take the abuse. From what i know photocrazy8 does plan on gettin a alt upgrade. But he also doesnt run his amp for hours on end to where all the batteries would be completely drained and the alt has to keep up with the extra load from all those batterys. The OP said he already has a 220amp HO alt, so I just suggest a easier solution to him then maybe gettin dual alts.

Most people get amplifiers that draw alot of current, but either keep the stock battery/amp, or just upgrade the battery. But those same people are also usually the ones that are blasting full tilt everytime the car is on, giving the battery no time to charge, and constantly trying to push a 100% load on the alt just feeding the bat. Now if the alt is trying to work 100% all the time then obviously it's not good for it. This causes alot of problems, voltage drops, problems with the alt, Battery could have problems if its not a deep cycle battery and constalty droping too low.

Ahh yes I see, thanks for clearing that up for me

i have already upgraded my batt under the hood to a 1100A Exide/Rockford Deep Cycle Batt. The big 3 is done and I added 2 Stinger SPV35's in the back. So i should just add more batts?

So, your worried about having enough reserve? Not necessarily trying to "fix" and electrical difficiencies?

If so, yea i'd consider more batts first.

What are the specs on the SPVs? Look into Kineticks, millionbuy.com has them for cheap!
