Generally it's a good idea to get both the alt upgrade and a battery that can take the abuse. From what i know photocrazy8 does plan on gettin a alt upgrade. But he also doesnt run his amp for hours on end to where all the batteries would be completely drained and the alt has to keep up with the extra load from all those batterys. The OP said he already has a 220amp HO alt, so I just suggest a easier solution to him then maybe gettin dual alts. Most people get amplifiers that draw alot of current, but either keep the stock battery/amp, or just upgrade the battery. But those same people are also usually the ones that are blasting full tilt everytime the car is on, giving the battery no time to charge, and constantly trying to push a 100% load on the alt just feeding the bat. Now if the alt is trying to work 100% all the time then obviously it's not good for it. This causes alot of problems, voltage drops, problems with the alt, Battery could have problems if its not a deep cycle battery and constalty droping too low.
