dual 4 run like 0ga?

Would running 2 4ga wires work like running a single 0? I cant fit 0ga in my car because its too thick and it wont run under the carpet but I can runn 2 4ga no problems. will it work the same? I know noob question but it just popped in my head and I was like hmm I have no idea LOL.

I think it's 3 runs that will equal the "next" gauge up. Like 3x 8gauge = 4gauge and 3x 4gauge = 0gauge.

Based on area it would 2.5 4 gauge runs to equal 1/0 (AWG states 21..mm^2 in 4 gauge and 53.4mm^2 in 1/0)

use a good quality wire...not that Wal-Mart or power acoustic crap...their 4ga. is barely big enough to be called 8...

you can make 1/0 fit, trust me... once its in, it wont be noticable, i dont care what kind of vehicle you are talking about...

but yes, you can double up the wire to carry some more current, but remember your weak points... all of your extraneous connections are current hinders. they may be slight, and most likely insignificant. i would still sugggest just biting the bullet and running the larger wire.

True. . . I can fit 1/0 under the trim and carpet of my Accord. You may have to make a little cut to slide the wire through the carpet and into the trunk since its so thick.

Two 4 gauge is same as one 1/0 gauge wire. Every time you double the wire, you drop the gauge number by 3.

I always thought it was increments of 4, not 3. Like.....its 4-8g wires to equal 1-4g.

i know someone sells flat 1\0 wire, it's just 2 4 awgs in the same jacketing
