Dual 4 Ohm Coil

I am replacing my 2 10" MTX Subs with new ones recomened by MTX and they hav a Dual 4 ohm coil as opposed to a single.

Can someone explain to this Nubee what that means?

It can be wired either 2 ohms or 8. Simple as that. A single VC sub can only be wired one way whereas a DVC can be wired 2 ways. Multiple subs with DVC gets a little tricky. IF your willing to read and learn more about it, go to http://www.jlaudio.com and look under tutorials under wiring. Always helps me out when I wire up subs. Hope this helps.

Ok that makes sense so one more question, Can I wire the (2) 10" subwoofers with dual 4 ohm coils to give me a total of 4 ohms.

Example: Wire them as 8 ohms parrelled for a load to my amp bridged mono at 4 ohms?

Does that make sense
