Is it ok to power a dual 1 ohm sub @ .5 ohms?

Ill probably be powering 2 hdc3 15's each on a mmats d3500.05

each will be getting 2700 wrms @ .5 Ohms. thats if i get the subs dual 1 ohms each

if get them both dual 2 ohms

ill have to wire them down to 1 ohm wich each amp will only give me 1900 wrms @ 1 ohm.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Ill most likely run them @ .5 ohms since im getting more power @ that load.

What do you guys think?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif:crap:

subs should be fine "assuming" it's clean power and you have the electrical to back it up. Is that amp .5 stable?
Yes it is. Ok Ill make sure my electrical is more than enough.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

To run your amp at a .5 ohm load, then you would need to get those subs in D2 not D1.

And as long as your amp is able to run .5 ohm then your subs will be fine.

And if I understand correctly your gonna be using just 1 amp to power both subs right and if thats the case then, your amp runs at 5400wrms at .5 ohm right.

x2, as long as you get the right coil configuration for the subs, your electrical is sufficient, and your amp is .5 ohm stable, it should work fine.

I'm currently running the subs/amp in my sig @ .5 ohm daily w/ no problems.

I correct myself, after reading the specs on this amp if you wire it with 2 D2 subs up to your amp and get a .5 ohm load then your subs will actually only be getting 1350wrms a piece that is assuming you are running sufficient voltage to the amp and have the right size fuses in your amp to get the full 2700wrms.

In order to achieve 2700wrms at 13.8 volts like mmats site says, you would need to have at least a total of 275amps between the 2 fuses on your amp at 70% efficiency at full power according to mmats sight. But according to lightav.com their amps are over 90% efficient and if thats the case then you will only need a total of 225amps between the 2 fuses on your amp, and if your vehicle is running at 14.4v like most people try to achieve then it will actually put you above 2700wrms, just fyi in case you were unaware. Because if you run dual 100amp fuses like they recommend then you will not be able to run your amp at 2700wrms unless your voltage to your amp is at least 15v+ at 90% efficiency.

Yes, I know Ill need to get the subs dual 2's to run them both @ .5 ohms with only 1 d3500.05

What I am plannin to do. Is get another d3500.05, if I do Ill need to get both subs dual 1, to connect each sub on 1 amp and wire down each dual 1 ohm sub to .5 ohms, wich would be fine right?

Thats interesting, I will email David Thompson from Mmats about this.
