Drove stick for the first time today...

you must not have had to drive it in traffic lol, I can't stand paddle shifters in stop and go, I'd stick to my man pedal in that situation. Well or a full auto.
we mainly drove his car when we were on the dragon (Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap, motorcycle and sport car two lane tourism serving Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap, Cherohala Skyway, Moonshiner28, Devils Triangle, and Six Gap North Georgia.) so no, not much traffic. My 135i had paddle shifters and I didn't have any trouble at all with it in traffic and it was my dd for almost a year.

I learned how to drive stick back when Nissan was Datsun.... (can't even remember WTF model). I got sick of buying a clutch every 100K miles though. Unles you're racing, plowing, or hauling, IMO manual is pretty pointless.
i learn something new erryday!

no its not! what if the situation calls for more acceleration? like trying to get away from someone thats shooting at you or a horde of zombies??

you must not be very good at shifting, it doesn't bother you at all if your good at it.
nah I'm not very good at it. Never cared enough to learn. That's the thing, it WOULD bother me having to shift all the time..like I said, put it in gear and go is good enough for me.
Gonna have to pay it off through college though. And you would get better gas mileage, more control of your car, and cars that are stick shift are usually cheaper than autos //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I drive my truck 3 mins to work and 3 mins back home. Gad mileage isn't of much concern to me at the moment //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif all the control I need is gas pedal, break pedal and steering.

What happens if you have to travel greater than 4 miles //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/ohsnap.gif.17c4c91be09a7a4a3995fb7145adac39.gif

I learned in an old piece o **** honda hatchback in a corn field. Dont remember what they were exactly but my buddies dad picked em up in a package deal. 2 of them for $700 lol so we made a figure 8 track in a field behind his house and beat the **** out of them. That was when I was prolly 10-11. Grew up on a dirtbike so I knew the concept. Was a little different going to a vehicle but loved the control of it. Once those died I hadnt driven a stick since my GTO. Took me a little bit to shift smoothly, rev-match, etc. but eventually got the hang of it.

Just learn the car. Pay attention to RPM-speed-gear correlations and youll get the hang of it in no time

We dont travel much, but I have a car that gets decent gas mileage for longer trips. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

You're 26 and you didn't know Nissan used to be Datsun?? :O haha.

And I know the horde of zombies is a joke.... or is it? But I have a auto, and like most cars, I can still control 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.... I mean, it shifts when I hit red, but I can keep it in whatever gear I want the entire RPM range. TBH, I have been in a couple car chases and had no problem with it. I'm not gonna deny that a manual would be much better in the situation, but the auto didn't get me killed either //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

doesnt matter is OPs civic is auto or stick, it'll still be slow.

odds are for the price your paying, 10-12k, you could find a 05 area wrx or evo with a little homework. thatd be money better spent to me.

my car is slow, just a 1.8 5 speed. ive driven the stick and auto version of my car, and so much power gets lost through the ****** in the auto.

I dont understand why people put such emphasis on how fast a vehicle is. It doesnt matter how fast it is... Its a damn economy car, not a dragster. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif I'm sure its plenty fast enough to get up to the legal speed limit and go from point A to point B. That is all thats needed.

STUDY: Men can't help but enjoy fast cars - it's that testosterone thing again its in our genes man.
