Drove stick for the first time today...

Well I'm getting my new car in a week or so and it's going to be stick because I'm not dealing with auto's anymore after what is going on with my first car. So today, I drove my friends 02 Ford ranger to learn so when I get my car, I should be good. Well, his wasn't the best to learn on because his clutch was very worn so you almost had to release the clutch all the way out before able to hit the gas.

So I started the car, went reverse out of the driveway with no problems. Right when I tried to go forward in first, stalled it. Restarted the truck and tried again, car was bucking back and forth then finally stopped. Scared the sh1t outta me. Third try, car was hesitant at first then finally got the hang of it.

It's gonna take me a quite a bit of time to finally get it down. How hard was it for y'all? What car did y'all learn on?

I've been driving manual since I got my 400EX, so maybe 9, first truck was a stick and never had any problem with it.

Yeah it's gonna take me about a day or two to be comfortable with myself to drive on the streets.

learned to drive one when i was 12 became a master at it early in highschool when i use to steal my dads truck at night(manual older tacoma)

then after that my first 3 cars were sticks my latest one is the first time i have ever bought and automatic(February)

i still have the bimmer but its just sitting there now bored......took everything out of it and i just dont driver her anymore

i learned on a '95 corvette. You could do a standing start in 3rd and not stall, it doesn't even count.

it just takes time, i always drove a stick even when my personal truck/car was an auto i always drove a stick periodically.

i drove a nismo 370z the other day at the lot and the clutch ******. dealer asked me if i could drive stick so i ask if i could put a lil gas in it an hit up the highway. i let my racing experience kick in and got the car to 120 in no time kicked up some side roads and showed him how the car liked aggressive shifting he laughed when i got back into town and the car stalled at the last light.

every car dives different, it just takes time to get used to the car you will be driving

I learned on a 97 jeep wrangler. It was perhaps the easiest clutch to learn on.
