so i was wondering if anyone could possibly tell me if it is safe to drill holes and put screws on the shelf type part of the trunk in a 91 grand marquis...i wanna make sure i'm not gonnna drill right into something

in this picture ( i know its of like a 2000 something model) but on the shelf type thing where the tire is sitting, thats the area im talkin about in my 91, it fits my amps for my new stereo perfect and i really dont have anywhere else to mount them.

maybe some pics of what is under that (or if its just hollow) would help me alot

thanks

theres the link

and umm...where could i pick some of that up, one of the amps i am going to be using is the cadence txa-1000d...which is a long (26 inches) and probably weighs like 20 pounds. i really cant have this amp move, because if it falls off that ledge while im going around a corner or something my trunk is so large it would **** it up real bad.

i don't know if i will be able to see that location, but the real reason i haven't tried that yet is because it has been raining non stop for the past 2 days. also the reason i haven't finished the rest of my install.

you can get pretty strong velcro at Home Depot. That's how I planted my buddies sub box in the back of his tC (hatchback). I think I used 3" wide strips laid on the bottom of box. it was just carpet that it stuck to, but it didn't go anywhere. and if you don't want to stick it to the amp dorectly, you can mount the amp on a rectangular baffle and velcro the bottom of that.

I'm pretty sure thats right over your gas tank.
That's what I'm thinking, but there "should" be some room as long as he doesn't use long *** screws.

Only way to be sure is get under the car and scope it out, or drill blindly and wait for the explosion //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

well i just took a look under there, got soaking wet but oh well. Drich was right, it is in fact right over the gas tank, it looks like i have some clearance but i really can't tell tbh. so i think i'm gonna go to home depot and go that route, i probably have enough clearance, but i really don't want to **** around with that and possibly puncture my gas tank.
