Double run of 4ga or single 0ga?

Right now I have a single run of 4ga going to a distro, then 4ga to my 75x4 bi-amping my front stage, and 4ga going to my sub amp which is 500rms. How much bigger do you think I could go on the sub amp before I'll need more than 4ga?

If needed, would it be better to replace the 4ga with 0ga or just do another 4ga run in addition to what's already there?

I agree with Boomsday. However take into account if you plan to upgrade your sub amp and sub or subs, you may want to have 0ga in place already. As well as Big 3 completed.
I agree Cant go wrong being oversized just use a quality copper cable otherwise known as OFC alumminum(CCA) is not rated at same current capability(ampacity) as copper.

Correct. CCA is not rated the same as OFC. However, if used properly, CCA can work out nicely. If you are looking to run 3k and up I would suggest OFC. If you are running below that CCA will be just fine. I'm running 1k to a single 12" sub and my big 3 is in 0ga CCA, front battery to second battery is 0 ga CCA, then second battery to amp is 4ga CCA. No issues at all in my setup.

little comparison... 4 ga. vs. 2/0...
