Double Din Recommendations

A coworker and good friend of mine is looking for an all in one double din unit that has navigation, bluetooth, and can have an iPod connected to it.

Looking for recommendations as to what's good to go with. He was recommended by someone at the dealer to get a JVC unit, and the guy didn't recommend the Pioneer because supposedly the iPod connection takes about 30 seconds to load up and it does so each time. He doesn't recall which JVC or which Pioneer deck it was though.

Anyhow, any recommendations, perhaps some you guys have used? I personally have no clue as I didn't care much about all that in my previous setup and right now I'm using stock.

I had a AVIC-D3 and a Kenwood DDX-7015. I know the Kenwood was older than the pioneer, but the Pioneer was so much better than the Kenwood. The Pioneer had a great navigation and iPod control. I'm guessing it had bluetooth, but I'm not 100% sure. I actually just pulled my AVIC from my old car, so its F/S...PM me if you're interested.

I'm also looking for a perfect DD unit for my 04 ford explorer..

will be keeping an eye on this thread for recommendations

thanks

I think I'll have him stay away from the Pioneer. I read too many disasters with them. I think I'll recommend him the Eclipse SlowCamaro posted, unless I can find an all in one unit so that he doesn't have to install add-ons.

Buy the guys Kenwood DDX 812 in the classifieds. Best HU I've ever owned. I like it far more than the AVN 6600 and the Alpine W205.

If you have to have the nav, go with the 8120. Best bang for the $ would be to get that one in the classifieds and then buy the nav box.

He wants to buy authorized, or at least a place that has some sort of return policy. If it were me, then I wouldn't mind buying used at all, as I've done so in the past. I'll recommend him the Kenwood as I was considering that one as well. Thanks.
