Designing a box for 2 FI Q 18's. shooting for close to 10 cubes per sub.

box internal dims - 48 x 36 x 24 = 24^3 ft

Port area - 48 x 8 = 384^2 in

Port Vol - 48 x 8 x 14.82 = 3.3^3 ft

Left with 20.7 cubes net?

sub displacement - .24 per sub = .48

so - 20.22^3 ft left for bracing and wires/ ect.

Box is 10 cubes ish per sub, tuned to 28 hz.

does that sound/ look right? or did i overlook somthing?

thanks

kyle

(first ported box btw)

dont be too harsh lol

im putting 2 FI q 18's on an SAZ 2000d.

yeah 10 cubes is a shitton. but i was just going off what the FI website recommends. I was trying to see what the biggest box i could fit, and work my way down if needed. But the recommended vol per sub, is 6-10 cubes tuned to 28hz.

What would the difference be (pros/cons) of the different sizes boxes? (smaller/ larger)?

and as i keep designing it, i see that it will end up being smaller then 10 cubes. bracing will take up a little more space.

btw, i was going to uses 2x4's as bracing. is that a terrible idea sound wise? other wise that would be an ok way to take up some more space. and the 2x4's are going to be butted up against the front wall (sub wall) probably not stretching across the middle of the box.
