Dorm Room setup..

Hey guys i am trying to put together a decent setup for my dorm room...

Right now my setup is missing the low end.. Can you guys give me some recomendations for a sub setup. I already have the speakers/reciever..

Im comming from car audio running RE SE's and Entasi TC9's.. So i like it loud and low...

im really not concerned about being too loud, as im in a big party dorm and my room is being rattled by other peoples bass, so i can rattle theirs back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif haha..

Im looking to keep it under $200 if at all possible..

old school JL w6's, only need like 300 RMS to get loud, my brother used to have some in his room when he lived here, and he'd shake the pictures off the wall in the living room, which is on the otherside of the house //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

EDIT: i think he had 2 hooked up to a 200 watt plate amp from an old HT setup.

I was looking at the dayton classic 15" and a dayton 240w RMS amp... a little under $200 to your door. Might want to check those out on partsexpress.com

Yea i saw those, but the dayton's dont seem so good on paper.. and i've never heard one in person.. like the 15" dayton only has like 7mm of XMax... im use to car audio subs with 24-30mm xmax..

Is home stereo totally different? I dont know anything about home stereo..

You'd be surprised how loud you can get with only 100-300 watts if your sub is efficent enough.

The Dayton Titanic would probably suite your tastes, but then again the sub alone is a little over $200 shipped.

I tested a 15" memphis PR in a vented box, right up against the wall behind me (room was about 10-14ft. wide, not sure on length.Maybe 20ft.-25ft.? I think) and with about 100 watts that shit was louder than most car set-ups off of double or triple the power.

Bottom line, find something EFFICENT.

Have you heard the Dayton Titanic? I was looking at that very seriously..

The complete dayton setup is $340 for the amp/sub/box (10" Titanic) and according to parts express it says it will produce 105db

Do you guys think this would be my best option for output?

Or the dayton NON-Titanic kit

is $270 for the 15" sub with the same 240watt amp.. Which would have better output? the titanic 10" or regular 15"?

I've never really auditioned one fully.But I've heard one set-up that went DEEP as hell.The guy said it was a titanic, but I couldn't verify this (he had it at a non easily accessible point.He said it was a 15 that was sealed.Very nice home set-up.

I also know someone, whose opinion I trust and take highly who has used them in car, and in home.He loves them to death.A 14" with 1,000-1,200 watts, ported was just too much.For a dorm room, a single 10" would probably be good enough.If it isn't I'd say sell it and save up some more for the 15"

Well when I get back home I'm bringing my adire rewiring it to 8 ohm and hooking it up to the adcom amp my dad has.
