door speakers for silverado?

My dads door speakers took a crap on him, in his silverado. I need to decide on what to buy him. Anyone have any suggestions, keep in mind they will be ran off the stock HU. oh yeah it is a 2002. Thanks in advance

if your just looking for something basic, i put some Alpine Type-S coax's in a buddies car running off of the HU and i was really impressed. They lack in the lower range, but that should be expected with just speakers.

if you're going more high end, component systems are always an option too.

x2 on the type s. Go for the 6 3/4" version, should fit in there nicely.

yeah, but do you want to change the wiring and mount XO's?

so would you just take the tweeters out? I could mount some XO's no probelm though. But I am confused on how i would wire it up, does the stock HU in it have an cross over because it has two different plus in it, one for the speaker other for the tweeter.

Believe it or not, this is probably the best choice. I think his dad is probably just looking for sounds.

I used Durabrand in my friend's install and he was fine.
