Door speakers for a '88 civic hatchback?

Jacked from another site...

I was amazed that there is pretty much nothing on the internet for a front speaker install for a Civic, so I am doing a writeup here to help you guys out who may be thinking of doing it. It seems like everyone just goes to a car audio place and pays someone $20 to install front speakers... well here you can save yourself $20. I found that I did a few things differently from other DIY'rs, so I figured I'd share.

I was given a pair of Kicker K525 4.5" speakers for free by a friend who works at an audio place. These speakers retail for about $80. They are 45W RMS and 90W max

Looks like 4.5

4.5's will require a custom mount //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif in a civic...the factory cutouts are 6.5''

i'll be doing a install on a civic on saturday...its a '96...research shows they are all 6.5 cutouts on doors for civics.

5th Gen. (1992-1995) and 6th Gen. (1996-2000) are 6.5" cutouts. I believe the older models were 6.5", but they could also be 5.25", like a lot of people will put in thier's.

When you do the install, it will be best to cut the panel out, make spacers, and put the speakers on the door itself, not the panel.

I'll go run out and get some pictures of my 1997 as a reference.

Left Side. Need to reglue the cover back on with some thing besides a dab of super glue.

Right side, with cover attached.
