Door speakers cutting out when I connect the amp.

I haven't bought a wiring kit so I just grabbed an electrical wire from a lamp and clipped the ends, could this be the reason why?

ok i discoonected all my back and front speakers from head unit so far i try hooken the back only to the amp but almost their i can hear music with the rca cable only then i connect the back speaker to the amp and then from the head unit wire back peaker i connect only one wire and its music i didnt connect both head unit wire because when i do that it turn off or their no music at all my amp ligh turns on on the short?the only one wire i think its the positive i only connect so that the music can be hearing true its weird is it? if i try connecteing both + , - it short off and my short light on my amp turn on . but i have gotten a lil closer to fixing it their something im doing wrong? am i suppost to connect the speakers>>>amp>>>> head unit? like this?
im almost certain he has the stock wiring from the headunit still connected to the speaker. you should now have only 2 wires connected to each speaker. (positive and negative from the AMP only)

you should have no wires running from the head unit to the speaker

rca- head unit to amp

speaker wire - amp to speaker

thats it!

I was using lamp wire for the grounding, not the power.

Was finally able to fix this after shorting out 3 head units. lol. I was wiring the coaxial speakers to the head unit. I now have the RCA cables connected to the headunit and from there to the amp, and the the coaxial speakers wired to the amp.
