Door pod covering question?

I'm in the process of building door pods. I didn't get to the filler yet. I ordered the vinyl for the covering. It cost $50 a yard and don't wan't to mess it up. I was thinking of having my local interior shop cover them , because I don't want any mistakes and want it to look good. How is it done? Right on top of the pods or can some 1/4 foam be put down to make it look a little more like the door panel. Take a look at this thread on the second page. The door panels have some cushion. If they did put the cushion how perfect does the pod have to be?

One good thng about wrapping anything made out of glass and body filler is that when you use the foam on it, it will compensate for uneven spots. However; you should try to get them as smooth as possible because you just never know. Go over then wil filler, let it dry and sand it down. Its worth taking a little longer just to go over it with a fine tooth comb. Now if you wanted to paint them, thats a different story. Then you would want it absolutely perfect

Thanks, but I ordered the correct 1968 Madrid red that matched my interior perfect from YearOne. Do they have year correct colors and textures?

Ahhhh....no wonder it cost so much. I don't know if they have exact OEM colors but they are very good matches

I plan on rough sanding then filling anyway to get it as perfect as I can. I never covered a panel before, I'm sure I could figure it out. How hard does it look to cover by with the way it looks? I didn't realize I could post pictures on here.

if those pods arent connected to the door, it shouldnt be too bad. just wrap one end, pull the slack toward the other end and work you way toward it. It will be easier if you had another person helping by pulling why you work your way toward him

I'd use very minimal foam, if any at all...

Fill them in, and work up to 80grit to give them a smooth shape. That's all the further you need to go though...
