Door mounted tweets...High or low

Generally speaking, do door mounted tweets sound better mounted higher or lower in the door.

The reason I ask is logic would tell you to place them as far away from the ears as possible for the best imaging, but I bought a car once with an Audiobahn (I know) system in it, with door mounted highs that were about8'' up and forward of the door handle and the system sounded really really good.

I thing the proximity of the tweeter caused my left ear to go a bit deaf tho //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif.

Believe it or not, it sounded really crisp and clear. One of my favorite systems.

Until that tweeter miraculously stopped working one day.
