Door chime in Impala

Hello,

I am doing some planning for my next system in a 2000 impala, and i have came across the fact that the door chime (and many other features, possibly?) run through the stereo. So I have been told i need this certain adaptor (GMRC-01) which will set me back about 100 dollars (CDN). Is there a another harness that will fix the door chime and other problems as well for less money? Is it possible to buy a regular harness and buy a 2 inch speaker just to make the door chime work somehow? What other features run throught the stereo? Thanks very much.

I relocated my factory radio in my trunk of my 02 Monte Carlo , the part number is GM-06 at http://www.sounddomain.com, The harness will let you keep you door chimes and also still access and change your alarm settings, doorlock settings, lights, etc and also let you reset your tire monotor and oil change reminders.
