Dont Pump Gas on May 15th

oh yea...the watered down gas thing isn't true...you can't put water in gas, we talked about this in one of my chemistry class, the professor did a demonstration for us....i think you could say a lower grade of gas instead of watered down.

The reason gas prices are going up is because the demand for gas is going up and the supply is not rising to meet the demand. When the demand goes up you sell more gas. The oil companies make a certain amount of profit on the sale of every gallon of gas. Right now that figure is around seven cents. If the demand goes up you sell more gas. If you sell more gas you make that seven cents per gallon on the additional gallons you sell because of the increased demand. This means your profit goes up. Even though the profits may be going up with the increased demand, that doesn't mean the profit margins are going up.
No. Basically what's happening is that OPEC is twisting our nuts because they can. Why? Because we need our cars and won't quit buying gas. If you're gonna get all economical and shit, think of the term "Inelasticity of Demand." That means that when prices go up, demand stays the same because it's an item that's needed. Since OPEC controls a shitload of oil, we can't not buy from them, so since they recognize this, they limit the supply to jack up prices. Factor in Venezuela being dickwads and liberal tree huggers not wanting to drill in Alaska.... and bam! High prices.

Which is why we should all buy diesel vehicles and run them on used vegetable oil from Mcdonalds so we get cheap fuel, don't pollute the earth, and make every city smell like delicious french fries.

i get worse mileage with 10% ethanol (plus and premium) gas than with plain old regular gas.

Not saying i buy off brand gas though, i always buy name brand gas, i just buy regular instead of the shit with ethanol.

i hope i angered aciddream enough that he goes to class, learns nothing and fails out of school //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

From what I understand we havent opened a new oil refinery in the US in about 30 years. I believe we need to finds ways to limit our dependence on foreign oil as you suggested. While I'm sure theres more than a few big oil CEO's with the ethical qualities of a member of congress, I generally think people and politicians alike are too quick to blame the oil companies themselves.

what good are refineries with no oil?

Yeah, we definately need to make more refineries. IMO, a lack of refineries would be a bottleneck to any US oil industry. we can **** alaska dry but if we can't refine it, all that drilling is useless.

Actually, you're just saying it has been proven. You have provided no evidence to support the fact what-so-ever. And I'm stating MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. I've watched the same gas truck go from a Murphy USA over to an Exxon. It's the same gas.
Maybe you're little studies from back in the 80's applied then, but it's a lot different now. A lot of companies "share" local refineries and such. The biggest one here is Exxon, so 90% of the gas around here comes from the Exxon plant. It's cheaper for other companies to just buy it from Exxon than to ship it from their own plants. Likewise, Exxon buys from other companies in other areas.
dude I really dont care, I know it works for me so thats what im sticking with.

Premium gas isn't always going to improve your mileage... in many cases it does nothing.
100+ for me so...do whichever you like. I could careless
