The factory power wire is fused in the back from the alt too, its 2 gauge so I doubt he would have replaced that -- I'm curious what kind of wire caused a fire like that.

I am so ****ing lucky. I had a fuse but no time to install and planned on doing the next day. I figured one drive to a freinds house would do no harm. Power wire cover melted on exhaust return and shorted out. Luckily I smelled it and pulled over popped the hood and blew out a flame about 2 inches tall that had not burned anything yet. The short did fry my ECU and melted a hole in the exhaust return. Fuses are no joke
