Doing Big 3 today

I have kicker 1/0 wire and I know how I am going to wire everything but I am confused on the wire from engine to chassis. The engine ground strap is very difficult to access so could I wire it somewhere else? I need suggestions. I have a 2001 ford explorer

Dont worry about the engine to chassis...jus do the pos to alt pos ..neg to alt case bolt and neg to frame

And make sure ur not replacing any factory wiring ..just add wire

I didn't replace any wire...I added. I wish I seen this earlier. For engine to chassis I ended up bolting the wire down to the power steering pump to frame. Where is the alt case bolt?

Ok would that be a much better spot than the power steering pump? Also my amp is still cutting out at high volume after the big 3. Is it time to upgrade the alt?

Yes much better...amp cutting out could be many things..bad ground. gains not set properly...whats ur setup?

Yea u are nowhere near needing a ho alt...need to check ur grounds make sure u have a good agm batt under the hood ..and set the gains correctly u probably have them set too high

I ran twice that power on stock alt with 2extra batts...to be safe get a good agm under the hood and add a extra batt in the back

I currently have optima yellow top under the hood and my gain is set right in the middle ...lp filter is at 80hz, subsonic filter is at 25hz, and the bass eq setting is at 0. I sanded down my ground until the metal was shiny.

Gain could still be too high... set it with an Oscilloscope/DMM if you have one available. And make sure the ground is in a good spot that is connected to the chassis

I will change that ground from the water pump to chassis tomorrow to the alt case bolt like you mentioned to me and see of that helps out but as of now it seems as the big 3 didnt help anything. I will takeb pictures of everything when I get off of work in the morning so you can get a visual of what I did and hopefully correct any of my mistakes I may have made.

Sometimes doing.the big 3 hurts if u dont have thes rest set right bc u have alot more power flowing now amd ur amp can draw more
